TECNO Unveils CAMON SLIM 5G Through “The Living Cover Runway,” Celebrating Filipino Women Who Make Life Lighter

A smartphone launch took on a distinctly fashion-forward identity as TECNO introduced the CAMON SLIM 5G in the Philippines through “MAKE IT LIGHTER: The Living Cover Runway.” Designed as an immersive fashion-led experience, the event placed modern Filipino women at center stage, celebrating their individuality, ambitions, personal style and many roles in everyday life.

Rather than relying on a traditional technology presentation, TECNO used fashion and storytelling to explore the meaning behind “Make It Lighter.” The campaign connected the smartphone’s exceptionally slim and portable form with the realities of women whose days can involve work, commuting, family, friendships, passions and personal aspirations—all happening at once.

The message was not simply about carrying less. Instead, “lighter” represented the idea of moving through busy lives with greater ease and finding smarter ways to manage the things that matter. Through The Living Cover Runway, TECNO turned that philosophy into a visual celebration of technology, style and the contemporary Filipino woman.

Not Models. Living Covers.

The Living Cover Runway served as the centerpiece of TECNO’s CAMON SLIM 5G launch, featuring 15 women whose lives reflect different experiences, careers and aspirations.

The group represented a broad spectrum of modern Filipinas—from celebrities and content creators to entrepreneurs, working mothers, businesswomen, technology professionals, community builders and women pursuing their own paths beyond conventional labels.

Rather than treating the participants simply as runway models, TECNO created an experience centered on identity and personal stories. The guiding thought was that every woman deserves to be the cover of her own story. Each woman was introduced by name and identity on the LED screen before walking the runway with the CAMON SLIM 5G. Her journey was then brought into focus through a short narration highlighting what she does, the responsibilities she carries and her own interpretation of what it means to make life “lighter.”

15 Women, 15 Different Definitions of Strength

The “CAMON woman” was never intended to fit into one mold. At The Living Cover Runway, TECNO presented a diverse group of women whose stories highlighted different approaches to career, motherhood, creativity, community and personal growth.

Ely Halig, a solo working mother and advertising professional, represented the idea of maintaining individuality while embracing motherhood. As a breadwinner and competitive padel player, she shared a story of making room for multiple parts of her life. For Ely, making life “lighter” means continuing to pursue her career, be present for her daughter and preserve the interests and identity that make her who she is.

Meanwhile, Twinkle Dimayuga demonstrated how a personal experience can grow into community action. Her journey as a solo mother eventually became connected to MAMA — Mothers Advocating through Ministry and Action, helping create a space centered on collective support. Her story reflects the idea that being strong does not necessarily mean handling everything independently; sometimes, strength also comes from allowing a community to share the journey.

The runway further highlighted women whose experiences speak to reinvention, creativity, identity and growth, with personalities such as Aubrey Miles, Carlyn Ocampo, Fuschia Anne Ravena, Max Collins and Megan Young.

For the finale, Megan Young, actress, host and Miss World 2013, took the spotlight. Her evolution from pageantry to entertainment mirrored the evening’s message that a woman’s story can continue to expand beyond any single title or achievement. Her Living Cover moment embodied the confidence, elegance and possibilities at the heart of TECNO’s launch.

Together, these women transformed the runway into more than a fashion showcase. It became a moving representation of modern Filipina life, where every woman carries her own story and defines what making life lighter means for herself

Burgundy Red Becomes a Fashion Language

The evening’s visual identity was anchored by Burgundy Red, the hero color of TECNO’s CAMON SLIM 5G. Across the 15 Living Cover looks, the color served as a common thread while giving each woman the freedom to express her own personality through fashion.

Rather than following a traditional pageant aesthetic or putting every participant in identical gowns, the creative direction reinterpreted modern Filipiniana through structure, translucent textiles, fluid draping, pleats and dynamic movement.

The silhouettes were designed to communicate different aspects of each woman’s story. Structured pieces suggested discipline and determination, while softer layers reflected transition, vulnerability and freedom. Individual touches inspired by professional journeys, personal passions, family histories and significant turning points made each look distinct.

A Launch Designed Like a Living Magazine

TECNO’s editorial approach continued throughout the entire event, transforming the CAMON SLIM 5G launch into an experience inspired by the pages of a fashion magazine.

Guests were taken through a sequence of distinct environments, beginning with the Arrival Salon, followed by portrait displays and product experience areas, before culminating at the main editorial runway. Each space was designed as a different layer of one cohesive story rather than a collection of disconnected launch installations.

The fashion influence was evident from the moment guests entered. Modern Filipiniana-inspired elements and a hospitality-led setting replaced the visual overload typically associated with technology showcases, creating an atmosphere that felt more curated and editorial.

At the center of it all was the CAMON SLIM 5G, TECNO’s new ultra-slim imaging flagship for the Philippine market. The smartphone combines a 6.39mm ultra-slim body with a 6,000mAh battery, alongside a 50MP Sony LYTIA™ 700C main camera, Super-Zoom FlashSnap and TECNO Universal Tone imaging.

The concept reflected a broader shift in how technology fits into contemporary lifestyles. Fashion and technology are no longer necessarily separate categories; the smartphone itself has become part of how people express themselves, document their lives and move through their everyday routines.

A First Glimpse at Angélica Dass and the Stories Beyond the Runway

The launch also previewed a deeper storytelling initiative centered on Filipino women, developed in collaboration with artist and photographer Angélica Dass.

Portrait photography was incorporated into the event as a way of exploring identity beyond conventional descriptions and social labels. The photographed women became part of the emotional foundation of the experience, creating a connection between their individual portraits and the personal narratives featured throughout the launch.

The Philippine chapter will shine a spotlight on working women, with particular attention to solo mothers and the people who form part of their support systems. At the heart of the project is the Filipino idea of diskarte—a combination of adaptability, wisdom and resourcefulness that enables women to navigate challenges and create their own paths forward.

The project intentionally moves beyond narratives centered only on struggle and sacrifice. Instead, it invites audiences to consider a deeper question: Who are they beyond the labels placed on them?

More from TECNO and Angélica Dass’ collaboration will be unveiled later in October, offering another perspective on the lives and identities of Filipino women.

Making Technology Feel Closer to Real Life

The deeper story behind The Living Cover Runway was the woman at the center of TECNO's vision for CAMON SLIM 5G. She is not defined by one title or one part of her life. She can be a career professional, a daughter, a mother, a creator, a friend and a dreamer—all within the same day.

TECNO's launch intentionally avoided defining one “perfect” version of this woman. Instead, it placed different women, backgrounds and personal journeys on one stage, reflecting the many ways modern Filipino women move through life.

That is where the meaning of “Make It Lighter” becomes especially relevant. The idea is not that life needs to become less ambitious or less full. Rather, it recognizes that modern consumers already have a lot to carry, and that thoughtful technology and design can help integrate more seamlessly into their everyday routines.

The CAMON SLIM 5G became part of that story. Its launch moved beyond specifications and conventional product demonstrations, placing the smartphone within a larger conversation about fashion, movement, identity and modern everyday life.

In the end, the runway was more than a presentation of a new smartphone. It was a celebration of women who continue to move forward while carrying stories, responsibilities, passions and dreams of their own.

Because every woman carries her own story—and every woman deserves to be the cover of it.
